Getting Started

How do I know if Wellness & Co. is the right fit for me?

If you’re looking for therapy or coaching that’s intentional, collaborative, and rooted in real understanding, you’re in the right place. We specialize in couples navigating patterns or betrayal, and individuals healing from toxic or emotionally taxing relationships. If you want clarity, steadiness, and a clear plan (and not generic advice) we’re built for you.

Is it okay if I schedule an appointment and then decide we're not a good fit?

Absolutely! Finding the right therapist or coach is an important part of the process, and it's okay to take some time to figure that out. Your comfort and connection matter. You'll probably get a sense rather quickly if you'll feel comfortable showing up authentically with your new provider.

Some things to think about:
Is there a particular therapeutic modality you're wanting or needing your therapist to be well-versed in? How do you feel about humor in the therapeutic space? Does it feel important to have a therapist who has shared lived experience or background to you? We welcome you to schedule an appointment or consultation and see how it feels. There’s no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel like the right fit. We're happy to help you explore other options if that’s what’s best for you!

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes! All providers on our team offer free, 15-minute virtual consultations to talk logistics, scheduling, and explore whether we're a good fit for your therapeutic or coaching goals. You can schedule a free consultation here.

I’m new to therapy. What should I expect?

If you’re new to therapy, you can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space where you and your therapist work together on your goals. In your first session, your therapist will ask questions to get to know you, explain how sessions work, and help you feel comfortable. Over time, you’ll explore challenges, learn new skills, and build insight at a pace that feels right for you.

How is therapy different from talking to a friend or family member?

Friends and family are great for support and can often offer a listening ear, but us therapists offer something different - professional training, objectivity, and a space that's just for you! Therapy helps you dive deeper, uncover and identify patterns, gain new tools and new perspectives, and work through challenges with someone who’s focused solely on your growth and well-being.

What do the letters after the providers’ names stand for?

The letters after a provider’s name are professional credentials that show their license or certification. These credentials indicate their training, qualifications, and the type of services they’re licensed or certified to provide.
LCPC- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
LGPC - Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
LCMFT- Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist
LGMFT - Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist
CLC- Certified Life Coach

Services & Fees

Can I participate in therapy with your practice if I don’t live in Maryland?

It depends! Some of our licensed providers carry licenses or registrations in other states, such as Pennsylvania and Florida. Our coaches are also able to see you via telehealth anywhere! You can see where providers offer services by clicking on their picture on our About Page.

Do you accept insurance? and how does billing work?

Wellness & Co. is a self-pay practice, which means we do not accept any health insurance. However, depending on your insurance plan and out of network benefits, you might be able to receive partial reimbursement by submitting a superbill to your insurance. A superbill, or “Statement for Insurance Reimbursement”, includes some extra information (e.g., your provider's license number, date of session, how much you paid for session, diagnosis, etc.) for potential insurance reimbursement purposes. As far as billing goes, your provider will keep a credit card number on file within our secure electronic health records portal, Simple Practice, which will be charged after each session before providing you with a superbill. We're always happy to answer any questions or concerns about this process!

You may be wondering why we don't take insurance, and it's for a very good reason. For a detailed response, check out our blog, The 5+  Reasons We Don’t Work with Insurance (and How It Benefits Our Clients)

Do you offer in person and telehealth sessions?

Yes, we offer both in person and virtual sessions! Availability of in person and virtual sessions varies based on the provider.

What types of services do you offer?

We offer a range of therapy and coaching services in Bel Air, MD, including individual therapy, couples and marriage counseling, family therapy, and trauma-informed care. Our team also specializes in perinatal mental health, Enneagram coaching, and therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship challenges. We offer Intuitive Needs Assistance and tutoring as well.

Do you offer Christian Counseling?

All of our providers respect and can include your religious beliefs in your treatment when relevant. In this setting, your provider may or may not share your faith, but they are trained to recognize the importance of spirituality and can incorporate it into treatment in a way that supports your values and worldview. The focus remains on evidence-based psychological methods, but your faith can be a meaningful tool or resource within the process.

Do you offer services to children and teens?

Yes! Some of our providers work with children and teens. Contact our Inquiry Specialist, Maura by calling us or using the contact form up above for more information!

What are the differences between therapy and coaching?

Does Wellness & Co. provide active crisis support? And if not, where can I seek care for a mental health crisis?

Wellness & Co. is not a crisis center and does not provide immediate support in active crises. A mental health crisis is any situation where you feel overwhelmed, unsafe, or unable to cope, and may be at risk of harming yourself or others. This might include intense feelings of hopelessness, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or a sudden change in behavior that feels out of control. If you are in a scheduled session with your provider while experiencing a crisis (please note: our providers do not schedule emergency sessions), they will direct you to the appropriate resources. If you are alone and in need of immediate support, please call or text 988, visit your local emergency room, or in Harford County, call 1-800-NEXT-STEP.

How much do sessions cost, and do you offer SLIDING SCALE rates?

Session fees range from $150–$250, depending on the provider. Sessions are typically 55 minutes, with the option to request a 90-minute session if you need more space.

While we don’t offer a formal sliding scale, some providers periodically open pro bono or reduced-rate spots. If cost is a concern, let us know and we’ll see whether any openings are available.

Do you provide a Good Faith Estimate?

Yes. Before you begin services, we offer a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the anticipated cost of your care. It’s meant to give you clarity—not a final bill. For more information, see our Good Faith Estimate disclaimer.

Policies & scheduling

What is your cancellation policy?

The time scheduled for your appointment is assigned to you and you alone. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice via your preferred communication channel as discussed with your provider. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and the slot is held exclusively for you. If you miss a session without canceling, or cancel with less than 24 hour notice, our policy is to collect the full session fee. It is important to note that insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for cancelled sessions; thus, you will be responsible for the portion of the fee as described above. In addition, you are responsible for coming to your session on time; if you are late, your appointment will still end at the predetermined time.

How do I schedule or reschedule my appointment?

The best way to schedule or reschedule is to contact your provider directly via phone or email. You can also contact our Inquiry Specialist, Maura, and she can direct your inquiry. Email her at inquiry@wellnessandco.org

Is what I say really confidential?

Yes! What is said in the therapy space stays in the therapy space. The only exceptions to this are if there are any threats of harm to yourself or someone else - then, we do have to break confidentiality to ensure yours and others' safety. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to creating a safe, respectful space where you can speak freely!

Do you share my records with anyone?

What you discuss during your therapy or coaching session is kept confidential. No contents of the therapy sessions, whether verbal or written, may be shared with another party without your written consent or the written consent of your child or teen’s legal guardian. The following is a list of exceptions:

Duty to Warn and Protect: If you disclose a plan or threat to harm yourself, the therapist must attempt to notify your family and notify legal authorities. In addition, if you disclose a plan to threaten or harm another person, the therapist is required to warn the possible victim and notify legal authorities.

Abuse of Children and Vulnerable Adults: If you disclose, or it is suspected, that there is abuse or harmful neglect of children or vulnerable adults (i.e. the elderly, disabled/incompetent), the therapist must report this information to the appropriate state agency and/or legal authorities.
Insurance Providers: Insurance companies and other third-party payers are given information that they request regarding services to the clients. The type of information that may be requested includes: types of service, dates/times of service, diagnosis, treatment plan, description of impairment, progress of therapy, case notes, summaries, etc.

Information necessary for case supervision or consultation within the Wellness & Co. team.
